TELL THE BAND TO GO HOME

Robb Strandlund

NO DEMO

THEY'VE TAKEN OUT THE BANDSTAND DOWN AT CHARLIE'S.
AND THE RECORD THAT THEIR PLAYIN'S KINDA' LOUD.
THERE'S TOO MANY FLASHING LIGHT'S,
AND HARDLY ANY FIGHTS,
BUT THEY SEEM TO HAVE ATTRACTED QUITE A CROWD.

BUT I DON'T SEE ANY TRUCKERS DOWN AT CHARLIE'S.
AND MY FRIENDS THEY HAVE LEFT ME ALL ALONE.
THEN I HEARD THE OWNER SAY,
AS HE SMILED AND WALKED AWAY.
KEEP 'EM DANCIN', BUT TELL THE BAND TO GO HOME.

NOW I MET MY OLD LADY DOWN AT CHARLIE'S,
I WAS SINGIN' IN A FIVE NIGHT COUNTRY BAND.
WE PLAYED THAT CLUB FOR YEARS,
MUSTA' DRUNK A MILLION BEERS,
AND THOSE COWBOYS USED TO GIVE US QUITE A HAND.

NOW MY DRUMMER'S WASHIN' DISHES FOR A LIVIN',
AND MY BASS MAN'S IN ALASKA PLAYIN' NOME.
YES ANYONE CAN SEE,
IT'S A BIG CONSPIRACY,
TO KEEP 'EM DANCIN', AND TELL THE BAND TO GO HOME.

TELL THE BAND THAT THEY ARE NO LONGER NEEDED,
THEY DON'T PLAY THOSE DISCO FAVORITES ANYWAY.
IF THERE GOING TO STAY ALIVE IN 1980.
THERE JUST GOING TO HAVE TO FIND ANOTHER WAY.

SO IF YOU EVER FIND YOURSELF AT CHARLIE'S,
DANCIN' TO A RECORD, ALL ALONE.
JUST REMEMBER WHAT YOU'VE HEARD,
AND DON'T FORGET IT'S SO ABSURD,
TO KEEP 'EM DANCIN', AND TELL THE BAND TO GO HOME.
